Spanish anti-terror police have neutralized an 18-year-old suspected jihadist following a violent stabbing attack in Madrid that left three people injured. The incident occurred in the Puente de Vallecas district on Saturday, prompting a massive police response.
Chaos in the Streets
The terrifying sequence of events began when police received emergency calls about a man armed with a large knife attacking people in the street. According to authorities, the suspect first targeted an elderly woman, inflicting serious neck injuries, before turning his weapon on two men. One of the male victims suffered a two-inch chest wound during the brutal assault.
Witnesses reported hearing the teenage attacker shouting "Allahu Akbar" during the stabbing rampage. The situation escalated quickly as the suspect barricaded himself inside his family home, armed with the same large knife he used in the street attacks.
Police Response and Standoff
Law enforcement authorities categorized the incident as an "Islamist terrorist attack" and immediately deployed elite anti-terror units to surround the building. The initial alert came from the suspect's own brother, who called police to report that the teenager had locked himself inside their residence while behaving aggressively.
When specialist officers entered the apartment, they initially attempted to subdue the suspect using Taser guns. However, the electrical shocks failed to stop the armed teenager, who continued his aggressive behavior and attempted to attack the responding officers while reportedly reciting verses from the Quran.
Final Confrontation and Aftermath
The standoff ended only when police officers fired four shots at the suspect after their non-lethal methods proved ineffective. The wounded teenager was rushed to Gregorio Marañón Hospital, where he remained under heavy police guard while receiving medical treatment.
Spanish authorities described their response as "absolutely proportionate" given the circumstances. Police confirmed that all three stabbing victims received prompt medical attention and that none of the injuries were considered life-threatening. Investigators also revealed that the suspect appeared to be under the influence of drugs during the attack.
This disturbing incident comes just days after another terror-related attack in Spain, where a driver shouting "Allahu Akbar" deliberately ploughed into ten people on a holiday island using a car loaded with gas cannisters.
