The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has officially received Corporal Ezekiel Nathaniel, the 400m hurdles Commonwealth Games champion, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The reception underscored the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to sports and its personnel's achievements.

During the ceremony, IGP Disu highlighted the longstanding relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and sports, describing them as "twins" bound by shared values of discipline, teamwork, and excellence. He noted that Nathaniel's victory serves as a powerful reminder of what police personnel can achieve when given the right platform and support.

This victory is a powerful reminder of that bond, and of what our personnel can achieve when given the platform and support to thrive both in service and in competition,” Disu stated.

The IGP assured all police athletes and personnel with sporting talent that the Force will continue to invest in and support police sports. He promised to identify, nurture, and celebrate talent within the ranks, emphasizing that a strong Force in body and spirit serves the nation better.
“I want Corporal Ezekiel Nathaniel, and every officer watching, to know that this Force will continue to invest in and support police sports. We will keep identifying, nurturing and celebrating talent within our ranks, because a Force that is strong in body and spirit is a Force that serves the nation better,” he added.
