Arsenal Win Premier League After 22 Years: Season Review

The 2025/26 Premier League season has officially concluded, with Arsenal crowned champions for the first time in 22 years. The final matches were played simultaneously across various stadiums in England on Sunday.

Champions and European Qualification

Arsenal secured the title with 85 points, finishing seven points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. The Gunners ended their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park before lifting the trophy. Manchester City lost 2-1 at home to Aston Villa in Pep Guardiola's final match in charge at the Etihad. Liverpool played a 1-1 draw against Brentford in Mohamed Salah's last game for the club.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Liverpool will represent England in the UEFA Champions League next season. AFC Bournemouth and Sunderland will play in the Europa League, with Sunderland securing their spot after a 2-1 win over Chelsea. Crystal Palace could also qualify for the Europa League if they win the Conference League final. Brighton and Hove Albion will enter the Europa Conference League qualification round after edging Brentford on goal difference.

Relegated and Promoted Teams

Three teams were relegated from the Premier League: Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley, and West Ham United. West Ham beat Leeds United 3-0, but it was not enough to keep them in the top flight. Tottenham Hotspur secured their safety with a 1-0 win over Everton. The promoted teams for the 2026/27 season are Coventry City, Ipswich Town, and Hull City, the latter winning the EFL Championship playoff.

Individual Awards

Goalkeeper David Raya won the Premier League Golden Glove for the third consecutive season, keeping 19 clean sheets for Arsenal. Manchester City forward Erling Haaland claimed his third Golden Boot in four seasons after scoring 27 goals. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was a double award winner, securing the Playmaker Award with a record 21 assists and being named Player of the Season. Manchester City youngster Nico O'Reilly was named Young Player of the Season. The Manager of the Season award has yet to be announced.
