Carter Efe Beats Portable in Celebrity Boxing Bout

Street-hop singer Habeeb Badmus, widely known as Portable, suffered his first defeat in celebrity boxing after losing to skit maker Carter Efe at Chaos in the Ring 4. The event took place on Friday night, May 1, at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Fight Details

According to the judges' scorecards, Efe won by unanimous decision after three rounds, with all three judges scoring the contest 27-30 in his favor. Portable had entered the fight undefeated, having previously beaten Nollywood actor Charles Okocha in 2023 and singer Speed Darlington in April 2025.

Pre-Fight Exchange

Before the bout, both fighters exchanged words during a face-off. Portable expressed confidence in extending his winning streak, stating, "I will use you to collect my third belt. Charles Okocha was bigger than you, Speed Darlington was bigger than you and I beat them. I will beat you now." Efe responded, "One punch and you fall."

Round-by-Round Action

Inside the ring, Portable started aggressively, throwing wild punches in the opening round, but Efe remained composed and responded with more controlled shots. In the second round, Portable continued his attacking style, but Efe grew sharper, landing cleaner punches and controlling the pace. The third round followed a similar pattern as Efe maintained his advantage, connecting with more accurate shots until the final bell.

Result and Significance

The result confirmed Efe as the new celebrity boxing champion and ended Portable's unbeaten run in the sport. Portable's first boxing victory came in December 2023 when he defeated Okocha at Landmark Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, after a dispute linked to an alleged financial disagreement. He later recorded another win in April 2025 when he knocked out Speed Darlington at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island, after Darlington failed to return for the second round due to injury.

Promotion and Sanctioning

The Chaos in the Ring 4 event was promoted by Balmoral Group Promotions in partnership with former world heavyweight champion Amir Khan's AK Promotions and sanctioned by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control. Speaking before the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Balmoral Group Promotions, Ezekiel Adamu, said the platform was designed to give fighters exposure. "It's entertainment, but I want these young guys to trust me that the world is watching. When you have a platform like this, it changes lives. This is what it is all about for us: giving these guys the opportunity and visibility and showing the best of African boxing. It's wartime and let's show the world what we have to offer here in Africa," he said.
