Garnacho seals loan move to Villa Park
Aston Villa have completed the season-long loan signing of winger Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea, the Premier League club confirmed on Thursday, July 23. Garnacho's difficult season at Chelsea
Reports earlier this month indicated that Alonso had informed Garnacho that he would not be assured of consistent playing time at Stamford Bridge. The winger joined Chelsea from Manchester United in the summer of 2025 but endured a challenging debut campaign, scoring eight goals in 43 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 season. The move to Villa offers a fresh start for the player, who was once considered one of the brightest young talents in English football.
Chelsea's record signing from Villa
Meanwhile, Chelsea confirmed the club-record signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa on Tuesday for a fee of £117 million ($156 million). The transfer, which broke the British transfer record, saw Rogers move to Stamford Bridge after an impressive spell at Villa Park. The two clubs have thus engaged in significant player exchanges this summer, with Garnacho heading in the opposite direction on a temporary basis.
