El-Kanemi's Abdulrahman Targets NPFL Top Scorer Award
El-Kanemi's Abdulrahman Eyes NPFL Top Scorer Prize

El-Kanemi Warriors midfielder Daddy Abdulrahman was not among the strikers initially tipped to win the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) top scorer award this season. However, he believes he has a strong chance to claim the title. In an interview with NPFL.com.ng, Abdulrahman stated he will give his best effort in the race for the top scorer prize.

Impressive Season So Far

Abdulrahman has been a key player for El-Kanemi this season, scoring 10 goals in 33 appearances. He is confident of increasing his tally before the campaign ends. The former Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) player aims to score two to five more goals to stay competitive in the top scorer race.

"I feel very excited to be among the top scorers because this is the first season I have scored this many goals in the league," Abdulrahman said. "My target is to score more goals. The gap between me and the top scorers is two goals. I will try my best to improve my goal count. I believe I can score two, three, or five more goals before the season ends. Whatever God allows, I will accept it."

Midfielder's Determination

As a midfielder in a league where scoring can be tough even for strikers, Abdulrahman remains optimistic about finishing as the leading scorer. He noted the unpredictability of the NPFL gives him an opportunity alongside the frontrunners, who are mostly strikers.

"At this point in the season, you cannot predict anything. The other top scorers are mostly strikers, and I am a midfielder, which gives them an advantage. But I will give my best. If I don't finish as top scorer, I will finish in second place. Finishing first is my target as well," he stated.

Teamwork and Partnership

Abdulrahman credited his teammates, especially midfielders Zayyad Musa and Muktar Ismail, for his goal-scoring form. The trio have been the backbone of El-Kanemi's midfield, contributing to Abdulrahman's impressive return this season.

"We three understand each other and have been playing together for a while. That is myself, Zayyad Musa, and Muktar Ismail. When I returned from Shooting Stars, I found it easy to fit into the team because of Zayyad and Muktar, as we have played together since the Nigeria National League (NNL) and are the main midfielders," Abdulrahman explained.

With the individual prize within reach, Abdulrahman emphasized that the team is focused on their upcoming match against Barau FC in Kano this Sunday.
