Former African champions Enyimba of Aba view the President Federation Cup as an opportunity to restore their reputation following a challenging Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign where they narrowly avoided relegation. The Peoples Elephant secured their top-flight status on the final day of the league season but have pledged to compensate for their poor league performance by excelling in the cup competition.
Round of 16 Matchup
Enyimba will face Ikorodu City in the round of 16 in Benin City. According to new signing Nelson Sule, this fixture represents another step in the team's rejuvenation. Sule, who emerged as the hero in Enyimba's victory over Gombe United in the previous round on Monday, considers the upcoming game a crucial test in their pursuit of silverware this season.
Sule's Confidence
“We are taking each game as they come, but there is determination among the players to end the season with something,” Sule said. “Ikorodu City will be tough, but we will be ready.”
Other Round of 16 Fixtures
In other round of 16 matches, Sokoto United will face Adamawa United in an all-Nigeria National League (NNL) tie. Bendel Insurance will take on El-Kanemi Warriors, while Kada Warriors meet Wikki Tourists, who were relegated from the NPFL last season. Bida Lions will host Flight FC in another lower-league encounter.
NPFL clubs dominate the remaining draw: Rivers United face Nasarawa United, Plateau United play FC Basira, and Sunshine Stars U19 round off the fixtures against Barau FC.
