In an interview with Marca, Figo revealed that he would like to see Atletico Madrid lift the trophy, citing their past final losses and his friendships with the club's hierarchy, Miguel Angel Gil and Enrique Cerezo. "Of those remaining, I would like Atletico to win the Champions League after the finals they lost, and because of the friendship I have with Miguel Angel Gil and Enrique Cerezo," Figo stated.
