Nigeria's Flamingos are set to take on Benin Republic in the final qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. The team, under the guidance of coach Akeem Busari, secured their spot after a dominant 11-0 aggregate victory over Guinea in the second round of qualifiers.
Following a comfortable 5-0 win in the first leg, Nigeria sealed qualification with an emphatic 6-0 triumph over Guinea at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, who also found the net in the first leg in Abidjan, scored twice, opening the scoring in the ninth minute and adding her second in the 32nd minute. Captain Chidi Harmony continued her impressive form with two goals, finding the back of the net in the 21st and 34th minutes. Queen Joseph added another goal in the 23rd minute, while Precious Oscar completed the rout with the sixth goal in the 70th minute.
Benin Republic advanced to the final round after a 5-1 aggregate victory over Sierra Leone. The Amazons won the first leg 3-0 at home before sealing qualification with a 2-1 away win in the return fixture.
The first-leg matches of the final round are scheduled for July 3-5, with the return legs set for July 10-12. The four winners from this round will represent Africa at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup later this year.
