Globus Bank and Falcon Golf Development Company Forge Strategic Partnership for 2026 World Corporate Golf Challenge
In a significant move to enhance corporate networking and sports development, Globus Bank has announced a strategic partnership with Falcon Golf Development Company (FGDC) for the 2026 edition of the World Corporate Golf Challenge National Finals. This collaboration aims to transform the tournament from a standard golf event into a high-tier networking platform exclusively designed for Nigeria's corporate elite.
Elevating the Tournament to New Heights
The 2026 World Corporate Golf Challenge National Finals are scheduled to take place at the prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938 from May 29 to May 31. Under the new partnership, the event will introduce improved innovations and deeper corporate networking opportunities on-the-green, generating substantial interest across the country. Remi Olukoya, Chief Executive Officer of FGDC, emphasized that this edition is a must-play for every discerning golfer, highlighting the commitment to raising the bar in both competition and corporate engagement.
Innovative Formats and Expanded Opportunities
As part of the tournament's innovations, FGDC will field a second team based solely on gross score, with the team achieving the lowest gross score representing Nigeria's Team 2 at the world finals in Beijing, China. Team 1 will be selected through the Stableford system, utilizing three-quarters of the official Handicap and the best score per hole between partners. Additionally, a VIP Guest Category has been introduced for those not inclined towards competition but seeking an exclusive golf experience, based on individual Stableford using three-quarters of the official Handicap.
Fundraising for Youth Golf Development
These new formats are part of a broader effort to raise funds for the Falcon Golf Academy, which focuses on developing young boys and girls into Nigeria's next generation of educated golf professionals. Olukoya stated, "We have done a lot to add value to the 2026 World Corporate Golf Challenge. Apart from the usual winner-takes-all approach, there is now an opportunity for gross players to also experience what it is like to play the World Finals of WCGC 2026." This initiative underscores the tournament's dual focus on elite competition and grassroots sports development.
Corporate Networking and National Impact
The repositioning of the tournament under Globus Bank's backing is expected to foster stronger connections among Nigeria's business leaders while promoting golf as a sport for professional and social advancement. With enhanced corporate networking opportunities and a commitment to youth development, the 2026 World Corporate Golf Challenge National Finals are poised to set a new standard in the country's sporting and corporate landscapes.
