Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has expressed strong confidence that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen would be a major success in the Premier League. Hamann highlighted that he is surprised the talented forward is not already playing in England, given his dynamic playing style.
Osimhen's Impact at Galatasaray Praised
Osimhen, who was born in Edo State, Nigeria, made a permanent move to Galatasaray from Napoli last summer. He had previously spent a season on loan with the Turkish Super Lig champions. Hamann noted that Osimhen's contributions have been crucial to Galatasaray's strong performance in the league.
"Osimhen is an extraordinary player. The reason Galatasaray is performing so well in the league is probably because of Osimhen. I enjoy watching him," Hamann told Metro.
Premier League Suitability and Newcastle Recommendation
Hamann emphasized that Osimhen's all-action approach, combining pace, power, and clinical finishing, makes him perfectly suited for the fast-paced environment of the Premier League. He believes Osimhen would significantly strengthen any team he joins in England.
Specifically, Hamann advised Newcastle United to consider signing Osimhen. He pointed out that Liverpool already has depth in the striker position, making a move there unlikely. However, if Newcastle United were to sell Nick Woltemade, Osimhen could be an ideal replacement.
"Liverpool already has two players in that position, so nothing will happen there for Osimhen. However, he has pace, power, and clinical finishing. If Newcastle United sells Nick Woltemade, Osimhen could be a perfect fit for them," Hamann added.
