Ugochukwu Begins Process to Represent Nigeria
Former Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu is reportedly set to switch his international allegiance from France to Nigeria. According to Daily Post, the 22-year-old Galatasaray star has begun steps to switch his allegiance to the West African country. He is also believed to have started the process of acquiring his Nigerian passport.
Eligibility for Super Eagles
Born in France to Nigerian parents, the 22-year-old has represented Les Bleus at the youth level, but has yet to receive a call-up to the French national team. This leaves the door open for the young midfielder to play for the Super Eagles. This comes a month after he was spotted in Nigeria playing football with Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho in Owerri.
Potential Impact on Nigerian Squad
Should Ugochukwu successfully complete the switch with FIFA, he could become a valuable asset for Nigeria. The midfielder, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Chelsea, has shown promise in the Turkish league and could bolster the Super Eagles' midfield options.
