Enzo Maresca Agrees Three-Year Deal to Replace Pep Guardiola at Man City
Maresca Signs Three-Year Deal to Replace Guardiola at Man City

Enzo Maresca has reportedly signed a three-year contract to succeed outgoing Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, following revelations that the legendary head coach will depart the Etihad Stadium at the conclusion of the season. Speculation regarding Guardiola's departure has intensified as the campaign nears its end, despite the Catalan's denials, given he has one year remaining on his current deal.

Maresca Emerges as Front-Runner

The report also indicated that Maresca, who previously served as Guardiola's assistant, was the leading candidate for the vacant managerial position. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Tuesday morning that the former Chelsea manager will take over the reins at Manchester City.

The Italian tactician has been without a job since his mutual departure from Stamford Bridge under strained circumstances on January 1. The 46-year-old worked as Guardiola's assistant between 2022 and 2023, having previously coached Manchester City's youth teams, before leaving to secure Championship promotion with Leicester City.

Maresca's Achievements at Chelsea

During his 18-month tenure in west London, Maresca led Chelsea to victory in the UEFA Conference League and the Club World Cup. On Tuesday morning, Romano all but confirmed that an agreement to bring Maresca back to the Etihad Stadium was in place.

“BREAKING: Enzo Maresca has a total verbal agreement with Manchester City, HERE WE GO!” Romano posted on X. “The Italian manager has always been considered the ideal candidate to replace Pep Guardiola. Deal in place and Maresca will sign an initial three year deal at #MCFC. New era, soon.”
