The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially announced the appointments of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as the head coaches of the U-20 and U-17 boys' national teams, respectively. The announcement was made yesterday, marking a significant step in the development of Nigerian youth football.

Abdu Maikaba Takes Charge of Flying Eagles

Abdu Maikaba, a seasoned tactician with extensive experience in Nigerian football, has been appointed as the head coach of the U-20 team, known as the Flying Eagles. Maikaba has previously managed several top Nigerian clubs, including Enyimba FC, Wikki Tourists, Kano Pillars, and Plateau United. He famously led Akwa United FC to victory in the President's Federation Cup in 2017, one of the most prestigious football competitions in the country.

Maikaba's previous involvement with national youth teams includes a stint as head coach of the U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, and as assistant coach of the Flying Eagles during Paul Aigbogun's tenure as head coach. His appointment is expected to bring stability and expertise to the U-20 setup.

Eboboritse Uwejamomere to Lead Golden Eaglets

Eboboritse Uwejamomere has been named the head coach of the five-time world champions, the Golden Eaglets. Uwejamomere brings a wealth of experience from his roles as coach-analyst with the senior men's national team, the Super Eagles, and the senior women's national team, the Super Falcons. He has also worked as an academy youth development coach at Millwall FC, Gillingham FC, and Nottingham Forest FC in England.

Currently, Uwejamomere serves as the head of academy at Sporting Lagos FC, which recently earned promotion back to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). He previously served as head coach at Abeokuta-based Stormers FC. His analytical background and international exposure are expected to benefit the U-17 team immensely.

Both appointments underscore the NFF's commitment to strengthening the country's youth football structure and preparing the next generation of Nigerian football stars.
