Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has shared his thoughts after winning his fourth consecutive title, following a dramatic 4-2 victory over Antalyaspor at Rams Park in Istanbul. Victor Osimhen scored twice to help the Lions come from behind and secure their 26th Turkish league title.
Match Recap: Galatasaray's Comeback Victory
Antalyaspor took the lead through Soner Dikmen in the first half, leaving Galatasaray trailing 1-0 at halftime. Mario Lemina equalized for the hosts in the second half, but Dikmen struck again to put Antalyaspor ahead once more. However, Victor Osimhen turned the match around with two quick goals, and substitute Kaan Ahyan added a fourth to seal the victory and the title.
Osimhen's Impact and Season Stats
The Super Eagles striker reached 15 league goals for Galatasaray this season and 22 goals in all competitions. He will miss the final game of the season due to yellow card accumulation. Rams Park erupted in celebrations as Galatasaray won their fourth consecutive title, extending their record to 26 league crowns.
Okan Buruk's Reaction
Buruk expressed his excitement and pride after the match. “This is our 4th championship. We fought hard. It came down to the end of the match… winning the championship four years in a row is the second time in Galatasaray history,” he told GS TV. He immediately looked ahead, stating, “Our goal is our 5th consecutive championship. We want to finish this period as a star overall. I want to thank my players.”
Buruk's Focus on Team Success
Buruk, who has transformed Galatasaray since taking over, downplayed his own role. “I don't have much to say about myself. I came here to serve Galatasaray. I took over the team after a difficult year. Winning the championship four years in a row is incredible, in my opinion,” he added. “I know very well the value of being at Galatasaray. We are doing a very important job here. After many years, a Turkish team has reached very important places in Europe. Hopefully, we'll aim for the fifth championship next year.”
Looking Ahead
The season is practically over for the Turkish champions, with only a formality match away at Kasimpasa next week. Galatasaray have secured direct qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League group stage and will aim to progress beyond the Round of 16.
Pundit Sends Message to Galatasaray
Turkish pundit Zeki Onder Ozen advised Galatasaray to sign Bruno Fernandes to partner Victor Osimhen next season. Zeki described the Portuguese midfielder as the ideal complement to Osimhen in attack, which could transform Galatasaray on the European stage.
