Olofinjana and Drew Uyi Lead Talent Hunt at Evolution Cup 2026 in Lagos

The 2026 Evolution Cup has ignited a wave of excitement across Lagos, as elite football scouts and agents, including FIFA-licensed agent Drew Uyi and former Super Eagles midfielder Seyi Olofinjana, have converged on the tournament to uncover the next generation of football stars. This three-day Under-16 competition, hosted at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium in Surulere, has rapidly ascended to become one of Nigeria's most prestigious grassroots events, attracting top young talents from leading academies who are eager to showcase their skills on a grand stage.

Bridging Grassroots Football to Global Opportunities

For countless Nigerian youths, the aspiration to play professionally in Europe serves as a powerful motivator. Recognizing this ambition, the organizers of the Evolution Cup have strategically invited high-profile scouts and agents to offer players tangible pathways into international football. This year's edition has significantly elevated the stakes, with a select cadre of European scouts joining forces with Uyi and Olofinjana to identify standout performers for the global arena.

Established in 2021 by the Evolution Football Academy, the tournament was conceived to bridge the gap between grassroots football and professional prospects. The academy, which is registered with the Lagos State Football Association, continues to solidify its role as a pivotal force in youth development. Six competitive teams—Evolution FA, Goalgetters FA, Utmost FA, Right2Win FA, Inspire FA, and Dominion Hotspur—are vying for top honors, with players delivering high-intensity performances under the vigilant observation of international scouts.

Tournament organizer Engr. Olatunji Olalekan highlighted Nigeria's status as a football talent powerhouse, stressing the critical role of grassroots systems in maintaining the country's global reputation. "From the streets to structured academies, football is deeply embedded in our national identity. Grassroots development remains the backbone of our success, consistently producing players who excel on the world stage," he remarked.

The involvement of Drew Uyi, Seyi Olofinjana, and other foreign scouts has infused the tournament with renewed energy, motivating young athletes to elevate their game. Uyi, a respected FIFA-licensed agent and sports management expert trained in the United Kingdom, brings an impressive track record, having collaborated with top Nigerian players such as Odion Ighalo, Ahmed Musa, Olanrewaju Kayode, Emmanuel Dennis, Shehu Abdullahi, and Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi. Their participation has substantially boosted the tournament's profile, cementing its growing reputation as an essential launchpad for Nigeria's future football exports.
