Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Al Nassr FC secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Damac FC at Al Awwal Park on Thursday, May 21, clinching their first Saudi Pro League title in seven years.
Title Decider at Al Awwal Park
The Knights of Najd entered the final match of the season trailing rivals Al Hilal SFC by one point, with 83 points to Al Hilal's 84. A win was essential to claim the championship.
Senegalese forward Sadio Mane opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, giving Al Nassr an early lead. French winger Kingsley Coman doubled the advantage in the 51st minute with a powerful left-footed strike that left the Damac goalkeeper with no chance.
Damac reduced the deficit four minutes later when Morlaye Sylla converted a penalty kick, making the score 2-1 and setting up a tense second half.
Ronaldo's Decisive Double
In the 63rd minute, Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to take a free kick. He fired a powerful effort that bounced off the turf and beat the goalkeeper, restoring Al Nassr's two-goal lead.
The Portuguese star struck again in the 80th minute, finishing clinically from inside the penalty area to seal a convincing 4-1 victory and secure the league title for his team.
Ronaldo Finishes Third in Golden Boot Race
Cristiano Ronaldo ended the 2025/26 Saudi Pro League campaign with 28 goals, finishing third in the Golden Boot standings. According to Sofascore, he trailed behind Julian Quinones of Al Qadsiah, who scored 33 goals in 34 matches, and Ivan Toney of Al Ahli Saudi FC, who netted 32 times.
Despite missing out on the top scorer award, Ronaldo played a pivotal role in Al Nassr's title triumph. After the match, he sent a strong message to fans, writing on social media: "CHAMPIONS!!!!!"
The victory marks Ronaldo's first trophy with Al Nassr since joining the club, ending a seven-year drought for the team in the Saudi Pro League.
