The final of the 10th edition of the Taiwo Afolabi U-17 Cup is scheduled to take place this Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex in Onikan, Lagos. This year's tournament saw participation from 32 boys' teams and 24 girls' teams in the preliminary rounds.
Boys' Semifinal Results
In the boys' semifinals, Futune FA from Oshodi secured a victory over Infinity FC from Eti-Osa to advance to the final. Meanwhile, Apex FC from Agege faced Dynamo FC from Iwaya, and after a goalless draw, Dynamo FC emerged victorious 5-3 in a penalty shootout.
Girls' Semifinal Results
In the girls' category, Starlet Girls from Idimu defeated Puma Queens 2-1 to book their place in the final. The other semifinal between Fela Girls and Labro Queens from Ipaja ended 1-1 after regulation time, with Labro Queens winning 5-4 on penalties.
The competition is sponsored by Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Executive Chairman of Sifax Group. Over the years, the tournament has been a platform for discovering talented young footballers who have gone on to represent Nigeria at various levels.
Organizers have confirmed that Sunday's final will be attended by prominent dignitaries, including current and former international players. The event promises to be a celebration of youth football and a showcase of emerging talent.
