Otu leads top seeds into CBN Tennis second round

Blessing Otu, one of the top seeds, advanced to the second round of the women's singles at the 47th Central Bank of Nigeria Senior Tennis Championship on Monday. The match took place at the tennis courts of Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Otu Overcomes Tough Opponent

Otu defeated Kelvin Bebe-Emmanuella in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, in the round of 32. After the match, the 18-year-old, who turns 19 in September, credited her victory to careful study of her opponent's game.

"Bebe is a very good and tough player. But I studied her game and did the job well," Otu said. "Although she tried to come back in the second set, I punctured all her tricks to win the match and move on. I wish I could continue like this in the rest of my games."

However, the third Otu in the tournament, Thomas Otu, was not as fortunate. He lost to Danjuma Isaac in straight sets, 6-0, 7-5.
