NOA Introduces AI Application to Strengthen Citizen-Government Engagement

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has officially launched a new artificial intelligence-powered mobile application designed to significantly improve communication and interaction between Nigerian citizens and the government. The platform, named the CLHEEAN App, was unveiled in Abuja on Monday by the agency's Director-General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, as a strategic initiative to bridge persistent gaps in citizen participation and access to governmental information.

Issa-Onilu emphasized that many Nigerians have historically felt disconnected from governance processes due to inadequate feedback mechanisms and a lack of timely information dissemination. He stressed that the CLHEEAN App aims to reverse this trend by providing users with comprehensive tools to access civic education materials, receive real-time updates on government activities, and interact directly with authorities through dedicated feedback and reporting channels.

Advanced Features and Multilingual Support

The application is powered by an AI-enabled voice and chat assistant equipped with multilingual capabilities, allowing users to engage in major Nigerian languages. This feature is intended to broaden inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that a diverse range of citizens can participate effectively. Issa-Onilu highlighted that the platform is not merely a technological advancement but a people-centric solution focused on ensuring every Nigerian's voice is heard and that they can actively contribute to governance.

In addition to basic communication tools, the app will include interactive elements such as community forums, quizzes, debates, and idea submission channels. These features are designed to encourage active citizen involvement in national development discussions and initiatives, fostering a more engaged and informed populace.

Alignment with National Agenda and Call to Action

The NOA Director-General further stated that this initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance. He urged Nigerians to embrace the platform by downloading and actively using it, noting that citizen feedback will play a critical role in shaping policies and improving public service delivery.

Issa-Onilu described the launch as a significant step in the agency's ongoing efforts to leverage digital innovation to build trust, strengthen national unity, and cultivate a more participatory citizenry. He concluded by asserting that with the CLHEEAN App, governance becomes more accessible, responsive, and inclusive, bringing the government closer to the people than ever before.
