U.S. clears G42 to import advanced AI chips to UAE

U.S. Gives Green Light for Advanced AI Chips Export to UAE's G42

The United States government has officially approved Emirati technology group G42 to import the most sophisticated artificial intelligence chips available in the market. This significant decision, announced on November 21, 2025, represents what White House officials describe as demonstrating "deep trust" between the two nations.

The authorization marks a crucial transition from planning stages to actual implementation of what is being positioned as the largest AI computing corridor connecting the United Arab Emirates and the United States. This development substantially elevates the UAE's position in the global technology landscape.

Major AI Infrastructure Projects Underway

With this approval, G42 can now fully operationalize the Stargate UAE project – an ambitious one-gigawatt computing complex being constructed specifically for OpenAI. The project involves collaboration with several technology giants including Oracle, Cisco, NVIDIA, and SoftBank.

Additionally, the clearance supports the development of the largest U.S.-UAE AI campus featuring an impressive five-gigawatt capacity. This facility will provide low-latency computing and inference services across the entire region, positioning the UAE as a secure and reliable alternative to existing data centers in America and Asia.

G42 Chief Executive Officer Bing Xiao emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating that the chips will operate under the Regulated Technology Environment (RTE) framework developed by G42 and formally approved by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

"Today we move from planning to execution with strength, setting a new global standard for secure, high-performance computing," Xiao declared. "What we build in the UAE will be fully mirrored in the United States, ensuring performance and trust remain identical at every location."

Strengthening Strategic Partnerships and Global Positioning

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the UAE Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, highlighted that this decision "confirms the depth of the strategic partnership" between the UAE and United States. He articulated that technology serves not merely as an instrument for progress but as a platform for economic stability, regional security, and long-term cooperation.

"We are proud that the UAE has become Washington's most trusted partner in this field," Al Mubarak stated, noting that the approval further solidifies G42's collaborations with major technology firms including Microsoft, AMD, Qualcomm, and Cerebras.

The timing of this approval coincides with G42's existing operation of three of the world's 500 most powerful supercomputers, with regional rankings of second and third place. The company recently activated Maximus-01 in New York, which immediately secured the 20th position globally upon launch.

G42's expanding international presence now includes operations in Abu Dhabi, France, and multiple U.S. states such as California, Minnesota, Texas, and New York. With this new license, the UAE officially establishes itself as the most secure and high-performance AI hub outside the United States, entering an advanced phase in the global competition for secure massive-scale computing capabilities.

Founded in Abu Dhabi, G42 has grown into a leading global technology group specializing in artificial intelligence development with operations spanning worldwide. The company maintains a focus on promoting AI as a transformative force for public benefit across numerous sectors.
