Adeleke Announces Osun Tech Festival for February 2026

Governor Ademola Adeleke has pledged to connect Osun State's homegrown tech talent with international opportunities as he officially unveiled plans for a major technology festival scheduled for next year.

Osun Tech Festival Set for February 2026

The Governor made the announcement during a special gathering with players in the innovation and digital economy sector. The event, named the Osun Tech Festival, is designed to highlight the creativity of the state's youth and forge links with global partners.

The festival is firmly scheduled for February 19 and 20, 2026. Governor Adeleke stated that this initiative is a core part of his administration's strategy to position Osun as a prime destination for technology and enterprise, moving beyond just infrastructure development.

Digital Governance and New Tech Infrastructure

Outlining a series of interventions, Adeleke revealed that he has approved the development of a 20-hectare Osun Digital City dedicated to startups and digital businesses. The goal is to create innovation parks and digital hubs within this zone.

He also pointed to ongoing digital governance projects aimed at improving the business climate. These include the Osun Investment Portal, a 45-day timeline for processing Certificates of Occupancy, and a unified digital tax system. The expansion of the Imole free Wi-Fi scheme was highlighted as a key effort to broaden digital access for citizens.

"These improvements are making government operations faster and more responsive," Adeleke said. He cited the 'Osun One' single portal for government services and enhanced security through a 293 AI-powered emergency center, the Safe City Initiative, and a Security Trust Fund.

Empowering the Next Generation and Liberalising Energy

To prepare future innovators, the Governor issued direct instructions to the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy. He mandated the deployment of Imole EduPods, which are containerized, solar-powered computer-based test centres, across the state to aid student preparation and digital inclusion.

Furthermore, he directed the establishment of an Osun Tech Trust Fund to financially support these initiatives and strengthen the startup ecosystem.

On the critical issue of power, Adeleke announced a landmark step: the signing of the Osun State Electricity Market bill into law. This legislation is intended to open the energy sector to private investment, establish a regulatory platform, and drive renewable energy projects. He has directed the Ministry of Energy to swiftly set up an implementation mechanism.

Earlier at the hangout, the Governor's Special Adviser on Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy, Azeez Badmus, described the event as a unique platform for engagement. He emphasized that efforts to expand digital connectivity and create supportive spaces are fostering collaboration and growth, equipping the youth with necessary ICT training for a technology-driven economy.
