The Association of Insurance and Risk Managers in Nigeria (ASISA), in partnership with the University of Lagos (UNILAG), is set to host the fifth edition of the National Risk Compendium on July 15, 2026. The event, themed “Navigating Emerging Risks in a Dynamic World,” will bring together industry experts, academics, and policymakers to discuss contemporary risk management strategies.
Event Details and Objectives
The compendium aims to address pressing issues such as cyber threats, climate change, and economic volatility. According to Dr. Bola Ogun, President of ASISA, “This year’s compendium is crucial for equipping professionals with tools to handle complex risks in Nigeria’s evolving landscape.” The event will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops.
Collaboration with UNILAG
UNILAG’s Faculty of Business Administration will provide academic support. Professor Adebayo Adeyemi, Dean of the faculty, stated, “Our collaboration with ASISA ensures that research and practice align to foster resilience in the insurance sector.” The compendium is expected to attract over 300 participants from across the country.
Impact on the Insurance Industry
The compendium serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and networking. It highlights the growing importance of risk management in Nigeria, especially as the industry faces regulatory changes and digital transformation. A report from the Nigerian Insurance Commission indicates that the sector grew by 12% in 2025, underscoring the need for robust risk frameworks.
