A coalition of agricultural specialists has publicly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's mission to achieve national food security, promising to generate approximately 2.3 million employment opportunities through extensive farming projects.
Strong Endorsement for Government's Agricultural Policy
The group, operating as the Education Future Advancement Concept and Skills (EDUFACS), made this declaration during a press briefing held in Abuja on December 22, 2025. They praised the Federal Government and the Ministry of Agriculture for making significant strides in establishing agriculture as a central component of Nigeria's economic revival and future development.
Comrade Kareem Aderemi, the Chairman of EDUFACS, stated that the current administration's Renewed Hope Agenda has successfully created a blueprint that encourages private sector involvement, empowers communities at the grassroots level, and boosts domestic production. He commended the Minister of Agriculture for outstanding performance in both implementing sector-specific reforms and supporting wider economic goals.
Blueprint for Massive Job Creation and Youth Inclusion
Aderemi detailed that EDUFACS's strategy is to work alongside government programs by widening opportunities for skill development, enhancing value chains, and advancing food sovereignty. The organization aims to involve at least 70 per cent of Nigerians in various agricultural fields through organized training, mechanized farming, processing, and agribusiness ventures.
"We are strengthening a production-based economy alongside the service-based economy to place Nigeria on a higher growth trajectory," Aderemi explained. He stressed a strong commitment to local content, noting that around 90 per cent of materials used in their programs will be sourced from within Nigeria.
The initiative will also focus on engaging the younger generation. EDUFACS plans to include schoolchildren and students, offering selected beneficiaries tuition support to encourage their participation in agriculture. The plan leverages Nigeria's abundant arable land and workforce to increase productivity, build sustainable livelihoods, and foster national pride.
Innovation in Farming and Rural Focus
Aderemi highlighted that EDUFACS will concentrate on modern agricultural methods, such as organic farming and agro-processing. This focus is projected to create the promised 2.3 million jobs, with a particular emphasis on rural areas suffering from high unemployment rates.
Specific components of the program will include training Nigerians in processing goat milk, which is touted as more nutritious than traditional cow milk, alongside the cultivation and distribution of organic produce. The EDUFACS chairman assured continued collaboration with government bodies, development partners, and private sector players to reinforce Nigeria's agricultural value chains and ensure sustainable economic growth.
