Governor Sani Inaugurates Five Roads in Kwoi
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, on Thursday commissioned five newly constructed township roads in Kwoi, the headquarters of Jaba Local Government Area. The roads, totaling 5.2 kilometers, were built by the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Agency (KASUPDA) as part of the state government's infrastructure development agenda.
Details of the Projects
The commissioned roads include: Kwoi Township Road (1.2 km), Kwoi Market Road (0.8 km), Kwoi Hospital Road (1.0 km), Kwoi Central Road (1.5 km), and Kwoi Estate Road (0.7 km). Each road is designed with drainage systems and streetlights to enhance durability and safety.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sani emphasized his administration's commitment to rural development. 'These roads will ease movement, boost economic activities, and improve access to healthcare and education,' he said. He also urged residents to maintain the infrastructure and report any vandalism.
Community Reactions
Local leaders and residents expressed gratitude for the projects. The Chairman of Jaba Local Government, Mr. Daniel Amos, described the roads as a 'long-awaited development' that would transform the area. 'We are grateful to Governor Sani for remembering us. These roads will reduce travel time and enhance business,' Amos stated.
Resident Mary John, a trader at Kwoi Market, noted that the road leading to the market was previously in bad condition. 'Now we can transport our goods easily without damage. Our sales have already improved,' she said.
Impact on Local Economy
The road projects are expected to stimulate economic growth by improving connectivity between Kwoi and neighboring communities. Farmers and traders will benefit from reduced transportation costs and better access to markets. The state government plans to replicate similar projects across other local government areas.
