Kaduna State is on the brink of a major economic transformation following the finalisation of a groundbreaking agricultural partnership with the People's Republic of China.
Historic Agreement Sealed in Beijing
Governor Uba Sani has successfully concluded high-level talks in Beijing, paving the way for the final agreement on a Model Integrated Poultry Development Project in Kaduna State. The Commissioner of Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, confirmed that the deal was cemented after substantive discussions with the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Yu Dunhai.
Governor Sani's delegation included a Federal Government team led by Mr. Joseph Tegba, the Director-General of the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership, underscoring the national importance attached to this initiative.
Massive Economic Impact Expected
Valued at USD $200 million, the project is projected to be a game-changer for Kaduna's economy. Officials estimate it will create a staggering 350,000 direct and indirect jobs and generate over USD $450 million in annual revenue.
The core objectives of the landmark investment are multi-faceted:
- Strengthen national and regional food security.
- Accelerate agro-industrialisation within the state.
- Boost export earnings for Nigeria.
- Position Kaduna as a continental leader in modern agribusiness.
Deepening Technical and Investment Ties
As part of the ongoing visit, Governor Sani is scheduled to engage with the China Communications Construction Company and other vital partners. These meetings aim to consolidate financial commitments and deepen technical collaboration to ensure the project's swift and successful implementation.
Commenting on the governor's mission, Commissioner Maiyaki stated, "Governor Uba Sani’s engagement in Beijing demonstrates Kaduna State’s unwavering commitment to strategic partnerships that deliver transformative economic growth." He emphasised that the project would create thousands of jobs, bolster food security, and establish Kaduna as a frontrunner in modern agribusiness across Africa.
Acknowledging Key Support
The state government also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting Kaduna as the pilot location for this pioneering initiative. Appreciation was extended to the Government of the People's Republic of China for its continued partnership and investment confidence in Nigeria.
Under Governor Sani's leadership, the Kaduna State Government reaffirms its dedication to attracting world-class investments that drive inclusive economic growth and expand opportunities, particularly for the youth population.
