NB Plc Donates Cassava Facility to Imo Community

In a significant move to boost local economic development, Nigerian Breweries Plc has officially handed over a modern cassava processing facility to the Awo-Omamma community in Imo State.

Boosting Local Economy Through Agriculture

The newly commissioned plant represents a major investment in agricultural infrastructure, with capacity to process two tons of cassava daily. During the ceremony held on 13 November 2025, Managing Director Thibaut Boidin emphasized this project marks another milestone in the company's sustainable development journey.

Boidin revealed the facility will create numerous employment opportunities for local youth while generating an estimated ₦500 million in annual revenue. The strategic investment aims to position Awo-Omamma as a regional hub for cassava processing, transforming the local economic landscape.

Addressing Community Needs

The brewing giant developed this project following comprehensive community consultations and needs assessment. Boidin explained the facility serves as a sustainable, revenue-generating initiative designed to mitigate socio-economic challenges following the closure of their Awo-Omamma brewery.

"Our mission extends beyond brewing beverages," Boidin stated. "We are equally committed to brewing prosperity, hope, and empowerment for the people and communities we serve."

Community and Government Appreciation

Traditional ruler Eze Dr Val Amanfo, Eze Amanfo VI expressed profound gratitude for the donation, noting it will significantly support food production and job creation for women and youth. The monarch assured continued community support for Nigerian Breweries' operations.

Imo State Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, Chief Bar. Rex C Anunobi, praised the company's sensitivity to community needs. He confirmed the project aligns with the state government's economic development agenda and encouraged other corporations to emulate this example of meaningful corporate social responsibility.

The cassava processing facility represents Nigerian Breweries' ongoing commitment to impactful CSR initiatives across critical sectors including education, healthcare, clean water access, security, and economic empowerment throughout its host communities.
