Resilience and Leadership Key to Building Airline in Nigeria, Says Binani Air
Resilience, Leadership Key to Building Airline in Nigeria

The management of Binani Air has expressed confidence that despite the challenges faced by airline operators, it has secured its position in the Nigerian aviation industry barely one month after its inaugural flight. The airline also stated that professionalism and service excellence will remain its priority, stressing that it will focus on strengthening operational reliability, enhancing customer experiences, and pursuing sustainable growth by building an airline that Nigerians can trust and be proud of.

Connectivity as a Driver of Economic Growth

Speaking to journalists, the Group President of the airline, Aminatu Dahiru Chiroma, described connectivity as the most powerful driver of economic growth and national development. She stressed that once air transport improves, businesses expand, tourism grows, and investment increases. "Airlines do more than move passengers from one city to another. They create links between communities, industries, and opportunities. We see ourselves as contributors to that larger national objective, and every route we operate represents a bridge connecting people to possibilities. That is why we are passionate about serving routes that create value for both travelers and the broader economy," she said.

Challenges of Floating an Airline in Nigeria

Speaking on the challenges of floating an airline in Nigeria, the Group President said Nigeria presents both tremendous opportunities and significant operational realities for airlines. "The aviation industry is highly regulated, capital-intensive, and extremely sensitive to operational standards. Every process must be approached with precision because safety leaves no room for compromise. One of the greatest challenges was ensuring that every aspect of our operation met the highest standards before the first commercial flight. There were regulatory requirements, operational certifications, personnel training, infrastructure readiness, technical preparations, and stakeholder engagements. However, rather than viewing these requirements as obstacles, we viewed them as necessary building blocks for a sustainable airline. Our philosophy has always been simple: build carefully, build responsibly, and build for the long term," she emphasized.

Resilience and Leadership

She emphasized that building an airline anywhere in the world requires a formidable undertaking, while a greater degree of resilience, foresight, and commitment is required in the case of Nigeria. "While financial investment is essential, what ultimately sustains a vision of this magnitude is leadership," Chiroma declared.
