FinTribe, a pan-African women-focused financial empowerment platform, has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its financial empowerment initiative across Africa. The organization aims to build a trusted ecosystem where women can learn, grow, and build wealth with confidence. This was stated during its participation in the recently held She Counts Financial Fair, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with Centenary Bank in Kampala, Uganda.
Event Focus and Objectives
The fair, themed 'From income to influence: Building wealth, building power,' targeted women entrepreneurs, financial experts, policymakers, and development partners. It focused on enhancing women's understanding of savings and investment products, pensions, collective investment schemes, insurance, capital markets, and entrepreneurship financing. The event also aimed to serve as a networking hub and a catalyst for policy dialogue and innovation in women's finance through mentorship, skills development, and strategic partnerships.
Key Remarks from Dignitaries
Nwanne Vwede-Obahor, UNDP Resident Representative in Uganda, stated, 'We want to demystify investments by speaking in plain, useful, and actionable language, because many women are excluded from formal financial systems, not for lack of ability, but because those systems were never made accessible to them. This platform is designed to bridge that gap.'
The Managing Director of Centenary Bank, Fabian Kasi, pledged that the bank would remain at the forefront of designing financial solutions that recognize the unique life cycles and professional paths of women. 'We commit to expanding our reach through our digital platforms and vast branch network to ensure that no woman is left behind in the shift from earning to investing,' Kasi said.
FinTribe's Role and Future Plans
The organizers noted that FinTribe's participation reflects its growing reputation as a reliable and trusted institution in the financial empowerment space. Jennifer Awirigwe, Founder and CEO of FinTribe, emphasized that collaboration between international development partners and private platforms is what truly drives opportunities and systemic change for women in financial and investment spaces. She added that the She Counts fair reinforces FinTribe's dual role as an educator equipping women with knowledge and as a thought leader shaping the future of African investment.
Awirigwe described the initiative as a pivotal platform that offers a space to dismantle financial barriers and create clear pathways for women to participate in structured wealth building. She spoke about the future of women's economic resilience in supporting their families and communities, and in contributing meaningfully to the wealth and economic development of their countries. Through its Wealth Builders Academy and ongoing international engagements, FinTribe continues to build informed, confident women investors. Awirigwe revealed that FinTribe is committed to convening high-level conversations and translating them into scalable impact for women across Nigeria, Uganda, and the broader continent.
