Ex-Petroleum Minister Kachikwu Gets New Appointment

The prestigious hospitality brand Delborough Lagos has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of former Petroleum Minister Professor Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu to its board of directors.

Major Board Restructuring

During its annual board meeting chaired by His Royal Majesty Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, the company confirmed Kachikwu's selection while also inaugurating Senior Advocate of Nigeria Barr Kelechi Nwaiwu as Board Secretary.

The Obi of Onitsha highlighted the significance of these appointments, noting that Delborough Lagos now stands as the only corporate organization in Nigeria with a Senior Advocate of Nigeria serving as Board Secretary. He described the new additions as timely and valuable for the company's future strategic direction.

Kachikwu's Impressive Credentials

Prof Kachikwu brings decades of extensive experience from both the global energy sector and academic circles. The Delta State native holds a remarkable academic record, including a First Class law degree from the University of Nigeria Nsukka where he emerged as the best graduating student.

His educational achievements extend to international institutions, having earned both Master's and Doctorate degrees in Law from the prestigious Harvard Law School. Kachikwu's professional journey includes significant roles such as General Counsel at Texaco, Executive Vice Chairman of ExxonMobil Africa, and Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He has also served as President of both OPEC and APPO, and currently maintains roles as a visiting professor at several international universities while consulting for governments across Africa.

In his remarks following the appointment, Kachikwu praised Delborough Lagos for establishing itself as a leading hospitality brand on the African continent. He noted that the establishment has recorded two strong years of successful operations, developing a culture that attracts loyal clients and industry recognition.

The former minister shared his personal experiences with the brand, stating: "I have had the pleasure of hosting my business visitors here, and I've also attended several Sunday Brunch functions. The expanded board now includes other respected figures such as His Royal Majesty Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Usman Alkali Baba, Arc Dns Yemisi Suswam, Mrs Olajumoke Benson, Dr Valentine Ozigbo, Matt Aikhionbare and Dr Linus Idahosa.

The appointment comes at a time when Delborough Lagos has been gaining industry recognition, having recently been named the Best New Luxury African Hospitality Brand by the Seven Stars Award, further cementing its position in the competitive hospitality market.
