Julius Berger Marks International Day of Charity with Nationwide Outreach
Julius Berger Renews CSR Commitment on Charity Day

In a significant demonstration of corporate citizenship, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to community development through targeted outreach programs marking the International Day of Charity. The construction giant extended support to multiple institutions across different regions of Nigeria, providing essential relief items and financial assistance to vulnerable groups.

Strategic CSR Approach Across Regions

James Agama, speaking on behalf of Julius Berger's management and staff, emphasized that the company's approach to Corporate Social Responsibility extends far beyond mere philanthropy. "Corporate Social Responsibility at Julius Berger is anchored on long-term impact," Agama stated during the charity events.

The company's CSR framework is strategically built around four key pillars: Education, Healthcare, Environmental Sustainability, and Community Development. This structured approach ensures meaningful and measurable contributions to national development, reflecting Julius Berger's enduring commitment to building stronger communities and improving quality of life across Nigeria.

Lagos Outreach Initiatives

In its Region West operational area, Julius Berger extended support to two critical institutions: the Hearts of Gold Children Hospice, which provides palliative and respite care for children with disabilities, and the Shinning Light Beach School Foundation. The company donated essential food and relief items to assist these organizations in their mission to provide care and education for society's most vulnerable members.

Lady Salami Dorcas, founder of Shinning Light Beach School Foundation, expressed profound gratitude for the company's generosity. "I am super excited by the donation made today by Julius Berger because the burden of catering for food supply in this orphanage has been taken care of for a long period," she remarked, highlighting the critical timing of the support given recent scarcity of contributions.

The Julius Berger delegation in Lagos included James Agama, Head of Corporate Communications; Mrs. Funke Obolo, Commercial Manager of Lagos Social Works/Lagos Tank Farm; Ero Sandra Onome from the Document Control Centre; and Media Relations officers Mobolaji Ogunyemi and Mercy Ogheneraye.

Federal Capital Territory Support Programs

In a parallel initiative, Julius Berger extended its charitable activities to the Federal Capital Territory, providing food items and cash tokens to two orphanage homes: Destined Children Orphanage in Kado and Unique Choices Care Foundation in Kubwa.

At Destined Children Orphanage, which currently cares for 45 children ranging from one month to 19 years old, administrator Ms. Sarah Chukwuemeka expressed deep appreciation. "We are deeply grateful. What you have brought will go a long way. These are items we use daily," she said, noting that the orphanage, established in 2017 by her parents, would benefit significantly from the donation.

The children at Destined Children Orphanage showed their appreciation through heartfelt songs and prayers, creating an emotional atmosphere during the visit.

Similarly, at Unique Choices Care Foundation, founder Mrs. Choice C. Michael, who established the organization in 2018 following her husband's passing, commended Julius Berger's continued compassion. "I was overwhelmed with joy when I saw this. I am so happy, and I thank Julius Berger a million times," she expressed with visible emotion. The foundation currently cares for 24 children aged three months to 16 years and supports more than 650 widows through its NGO initiatives.

Sustained Corporate Commitment

Mr. Akeem Lawal, Public Relations Officer for Region Central and North, who represented Julius Berger at the FCT events, commended the dedication of orphanage administrators and reaffirmed the company's ongoing support. "Every year, Julius Berger extends assistance to orphanages and charity organizations as part of its CSR policy," Lawal stated.

He further explained that the company's goal is to ensure that children in these institutions can enjoy festive seasons like every other child. In addition to the material donations, Julius Berger provided each orphanage with financial tokens to support their operational needs.

The excitement among children and community members was palpable during all visits, with both beneficiaries and neighbors expressing appreciation for Julius Berger's compassionate gesture. The company's coordinated nationwide effort on International Day of Charity demonstrates its holistic approach to corporate social responsibility and sustainable community development in Nigeria.
