Edun reflected on his various roles within the administration, stating: "I wish to thank His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for the opportunity to serve our country from the outset of his administration in May 2023; first as head of the Presidential Transition Committee, then in my role as Special Adviser on Monetary Policy, before I was appointed Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy."

"Mr President assumed office with our country facing difficult economic circumstances. Under his leadership, we have worked collectively across government to advance critical reforms that stabilised the macroeconomic environment, strengthened fiscal sustainability, and laid the foundation for inclusive and long-term growth," Edun explained.

Edun wished his successor well as President Tinubu approved a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting the Federal Executive Council membership. Wale Edun has been replaced by Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, while Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma (PhD) has been named ministerial nominee and Minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
