Pan-African Roadshow Launched to Empower Creative Sector and Entrepreneurs

Afretrade, a prominent pan-African trade and cultural enterprise, has officially launched a comprehensive continent-wide talent and business roadshow. This ambitious initiative aims to screen over 300 applicants, strategically positioning African creatives and entrepreneurs on the global stage. The roadshow serves as a crucial precursor to The Afretrade Entrepreneur Festival (TAEF), which is scheduled to take place in June in Lagos, Nigeria.

Initial Auditions Draw Significant Participation

In its inaugural auditions, the roadshow attracted more than 100 startups and creative talents, highlighting the vibrant potential within Africa's entrepreneurial and artistic communities. The event was designed to identify and nurture individuals who can drive economic and cultural transformation across the continent.

Insights from TAEF Youth Director

Speaking at the launch event in Lagos, Paul Akume, the Youth Director of TAEF, emphasized the critical importance of this exercise. He stated that the roadshow marks a pivotal step in discovering talent capable of fostering collaboration and unlocking innovation across diverse sectors. According to Akume, participants were rigorously assessed based on their inherent talent and their capacity to scale impact effectively.

Akume elaborated on the assessment process, saying, "We brought them together to physically evaluate their potential, ranging from dancers who showcased expressive performances to entrepreneurs who pitched innovative business ideas. What we are building is a dynamic community where creativity seamlessly meets enterprise, as both elements are essential for creating tangible change in society."

He further clarified that the initiative transcends mere competition. "This is beyond a contest. It is about discovering latent potential, nurturing it meticulously, and transforming individuals and businesses into globally recognized brands," Akume added.

Call for Government Support and Youth Empowerment

Akume also made a compelling call for government backing to scale the initiative, underscoring the vital role of young people in driving sustainable economic growth. "At the heart of both the creative industry and entrepreneurship are young individuals. Supporting initiatives like this represents a strategic investment in the future of our economy," he asserted.

Moses Awenayeri, the Head of Sales and Marketing at Afretrade, described the roadshow as a strategic intervention aimed at igniting the African Renaissance. He highlighted its focus on unlocking human capital to foster innovation and economic development across the continent.
