LASG: Ensuring Waterways Safety Transcends Duty, Says Official
LASG: Waterways Safety a Calling, Not Just Duty

The Lagos State Government has declared that ensuring the safety of commuters on its waterways is more than a duty—it is a calling. This statement was made by Damilola Emmanuel, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Blue Economy, during the launch of Africa’s first ferry safety development and mentoring programme, held in partnership with Interferry.

Government Commitment to Waterway Safety

Emmanuel emphasized that the government is dedicated to building a safe, efficient, and world-class waterways system for all. He urged the 50 selected participants in the training programme to recognize that they bear both a great honour and a profound responsibility in ensuring passenger safety.

Partnership Praised by Stakeholders

Samuel Iluyemi, in his goodwill message, commended the partnership that led to the training of officers on safety. He noted that this initiative reinforces the position that safety is a key pillar in water transportation.
