Apapa Port Manager Praised for Ending Gridlock, Boosting Traffic Flow
LASTCOC Applauds Apapa Port Manager for Traffic Improvement

The Lagos State Truck and Cargo Operators Committee (LASTCOC) has publicly commended the exceptional efforts of Apapa Port Manager Adebowale Lawal in resolving the severe traffic congestion that had plagued port access roads in recent weeks.

24/7 Commitment Yields Results

According to LASTCOC Chairman Mr. Shittu Lukmon, the round-the-clock presence of Adebowale Lawal has been instrumental in ensuring improved traffic flow around the Lagos Port Complex. This dedication has significantly enhanced the movement of export trucks that had previously faced extensive delays.

The traffic problems had escalated due to repair works on the Marine Bridge conducted by the Federal Ministry of Works. These maintenance activities triggered a resurgence of gridlock along the critical Ijora–Apapa access roads, leaving both import and export trucks stranded for hours.

Leadership Makes the Difference

In an official statement, Mr. Lukmon highlighted that the daily 24-hour engagement of the Nigerian Ports Authority leadership has brought remarkable improvements to traffic conditions on port access roads. This commitment has also eased congestion at Export Processing Terminals across Lagos.

"This is commendable work from the Apapa Port Manager," Lukmon stated. "I have never seen a port manager like him. I've seen him at the port on Saturdays and Sundays, making sure the entire system runs seamlessly."

Community Support for Continued Progress

The trucking community has expressed full support for Lawal's ongoing efforts toward establishing a more efficient port system at the Lagos Port Complex. Lukmon noted that the port manager's commitment and dedication to duty have given stakeholders every reason to back his initiatives.

The improved situation demonstrates how proactive leadership can overcome infrastructure challenges and ensure smooth operations at one of Nigeria's most critical economic gateways.
