Gtext Holdings has commenced a series of activities to celebrate its 18th anniversary. The founder, Dr Stephen Akintayo, speaking during a press briefing held shortly after a Developer and Investor Conference and Exhibition (DICE), which was part of the anniversary celebrations, noted that the company, which started with minimal capital, now has a full presence across three continents.
According to Dr Akintayo, as the company looks toward the future, it will continue to diversify. He emphasized that the company's story is unique, considering the near-zero capital it began with and the achievements it has recorded over the years.
“The company is now in the diversification stage. We are looking into the future with more diversification goals,” he stated. He revealed that part of these diversification efforts includes Ginido Group, a company registered some years ago, which will launch in China in June as a trading arm of Gtext Holdings.
He added that the company also aims to explore opportunities in renewable energy and security. “We are also looking at security, providing graduate security personnel to private individuals and organizations. This is because security is a major issue,” he said.
Discussions are already underway with one of the largest CCTV camera companies in China, with the goal of establishing an assembly plant in Nigeria. The security officers will be well-trained graduates who will be properly equipped, though they may not carry firearms. “There is so much you will be hearing from us,” he disclosed.
Dr Akintayo also spoke about expanding into farmland banking through Gtext. He stated that over the next ten years, the company will pursue significant diversification efforts. “We are in the next 10 years into diversification. When you look at real estate and how it is structured, over time it ties down capital, which does not provide liquidity,” he explained.
He noted that some real estate firms faced challenges not because they intended to play games, but because they had liquidity issues. “They tried to find other ways to unlock liquidity that didn't work out the best way. We are trusting God that this new phase will take us into expansion, and everyone will benefit from this,” he said.
An anniversary dinner is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, in Lagos, while the conference and exhibition were held to provide better insights for young operators and those interested in investing in the real estate sector.
