Established in 1950, the company has evolved from a stout importer into a major local manufacturer and distributor. Its Ikeja brewery, opened in 1962, holds historical significance as the first Guinness facility outside Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Guinness Nigeria's early growth aligned with Nigeria's post-independence industrial expansion. By 1965, it was listed on the Nigerian Exchange Group, marking its transition into a publicly traded company with an expanding national presence. Over the years, it has developed a vast distribution network and diversified its product range to meet changing consumer preferences. Its flagship Guinness Stout remains iconic, while Malta Guinness has become a household name.
