Lagos Approves FlexxyDrive for E-Hailing Operations

FlexxyDrive, a Germany-founded e-hailing platform, has received operational approval from the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, enabling it to legally operate in Lagos. The approval, dated May 12, 2026, followed a regulatory inspection on April 17, 2026, and authorizes the company's Nigerian subsidiary, FlexxyDrive Software Technologies International Limited, to run its services.

Regulatory Milestone

This clearance places FlexxyDrive among the licensed e-hailing operators in Lagos, one of Africa's largest urban transport markets. Owned by Flexxy GmbH, the company started Nigerian operations in December 2025 and offers ride-hailing, scheduled rides, digital wallets, cashback rewards, and safety verification systems.

Driver-Focused Model

Co-CEO and Co-Founder Ajimijereomo Paul stated that the platform was built to create a fairer environment for drivers, who often lose significant earnings to commissions. "FlexxyDrive challenges that model with a transparent, driver-focused approach. Receiving MOT approval confirms that a fairer system can be built compliantly and at scale," he said.

Technical Co-CEO Stan Ibor highlighted that the company's technology and safety systems contributed to the successful review. "The platform prioritizes safety, reliability, and scalability. The positive feedback validates our standards," he added.

  • Zero-commission model for drivers
  • Passcode-based ride verification
  • Real-time trip tracking
  • Reward incentives for users

Since its Nigerian launch, FlexxyDrive has recorded over 50,000 app installations and expanded operations in both Nigeria and Germany. It is part of the NVIDIA Inception startup ecosystem and uses AWS-backed cloud infrastructure.

Expansion Plans

The company is preparing a €1 million pre-seed funding round to support expansion into other African markets, improve platform infrastructure, and scale operations. Operations executive Ebri Inah oversees implementation and market expansion. Activation campaigns are ongoing in Lagos districts like Yaba, Ikeja, Lekki, Surulere, Ajah, and Tejuosho, with plans to extend to other Nigerian cities by end of 2026.
