UBA Marks Africa Day with Pan-African Celebrations
Africa's global bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, celebrated Africa Day with vibrant events across its offices in 20 African markets, uniting employees in a shared expression of cultural and continental pride. The bank, which has built operations from Lagos to Nairobi, Accra to Abidjan, Dakar to Douala, and Maputo to Kinshasa over seven decades, used the occasion to reflect on its impact and future ambitions.
Cultural Showcases and Employee Participation
The day's program included cultural showcases, a fashion runway, music, and food presentations from all 20 operating markets. Employees participated enthusiastically, highlighting the diversity of the continent.
UBA Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Oliver Alawuba linked the bank's pan-African footprint to broader economic transformation across Africa. He stated: "As a group with presence in 20 African countries, UBA is more than a bank. We are a bridge across markets, cultures, people and opportunities. Every day, through our people, our technology, our capital and our customer relationships, we connect Africa to itself and Africa to the world."
Diversity as a Structural Advantage
Alawuba challenged staff to view the group's diversity of languages, cultures, and geographies as a structural advantage that no external institution can replicate in serving African markets. The celebration underscored UBA's commitment to fostering unity and economic growth across the continent.
