The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the distribution of 200 Saudi Riyals, approved by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to each pilgrim from the state performing the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia. The exercise was accompanied by a stern warning to officials handling the disbursement to ensure transparency and accountability, with authorities insisting that any form of misconduct would not be tolerated.
Deputy Amirul Hajj issues warning
Speaking during the distribution exercise in Makkah, the Deputy Amirul Hajj and Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Mahraz, disclosed that reports had emerged of alleged attempts by some individuals to make unauthorized deductions from pilgrims’ entitlements. He warned officials against any action capable of undermining the process and reminded them of the trust reposed in them by the government and the pilgrims. The traditional ruler urged those involved in the distribution to carry out their responsibilities with honesty, integrity, and the fear of God.
Successful Hajj operation
Earlier, the Amirul Hajj and Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, expressed gratitude to Allah for the successful completion of the 2026 Hajj exercise. He commended the pilgrims for their cooperation and support throughout the pilgrimage, describing the operation as peaceful and successful. “We are grateful to Allah for allowing us to complete this year’s Hajj exercise. We also thank all the pilgrims for their support and cooperation,” he said.
The Emir noted that Kano pilgrims recorded a hitch-free Hajj operation without any major incident or casualty. “We have no casualty and no serious challenge that could destabilize the exercise. It is a success for all of us, and it was possible because everyone played a role,” he added. He acknowledged that the pilgrimage came with challenges before and after the Arafat rites but praised the patience and understanding demonstrated by both pilgrims and officials.
Chairman confirms distribution
Chairman of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Yusuf Lawan, said the financial support was approved by Governor Yusuf to ease the burden on pilgrims before their return to Nigeria. “We are here to actualize the distribution of the 200 Riyals approved for each pilgrim by the Kano State Governor. On the instruction of the Amirul Hajj, we have commenced the disbursement to all Kano pilgrims,” he said. He prayed that the gesture would ease pilgrims’ expenses and that Allah would reward the governor abundantly for the intervention.
The distribution exercise was supervised by the Amirul Hajj and coordinated through center officers responsible for overseeing pilgrims across the various groups.
