Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir, the tenth Sarkin Gobir and Madawaki of Ilorin Emirate, has publicly praised the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for his pivotal role in the reconstruction of the ultramodern Imam Gambari Mosque in Ilorin, Kwara State.

A Landmark Project for Faith and Community

At the weekend, Gobir described the newly rebuilt mosque as a beacon of faith, unity, and heritage for the entire Emirate and Muslims across the region. He emphasized that the official inauguration, scheduled for Tuesday, 11 November 2025, at 10 a.m., will signify the rebirth of a sacred structure deeply embedded in Ilorin's spiritual and cultural identity.

Gobir attributed his commendation to the Emir's exemplary leadership and vision in steering the significant project. He stated that this initiative marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing Ilorin Renaissance, highlighting the traditional ruler's unwavering commitment to the spiritual and infrastructural progress of the Emirate.

Blending Modernity with Islamic Heritage

The reconstruction of the Imam Gambari Mosque is more than just a building project, Gobir noted. He called it a testament to the Emir's dedication to preserving the community's rich heritage while boldly embracing modernity. The iconic mosque, a symbol of Ilorin's profound Islamic history, has been transformed into a magnificent edifice that will serve as a central point for faith and community for generations to come.

The original mosque held immense historical and spiritual significance for the people of Ilorin. Its complete overhaul, personally spearheaded by Emir Sulu-Gambari, demonstrates a deep understanding of the need to provide worshippers with state-of-the-art facilities while honouring the mosque's foundational legacy.

A Unifying Event for Ilorin and Beyond

Gobir also acknowledged the broader socio-economic impact of such projects on Ilorin. He recognized the support of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, under whose tenure this monumental landmark was achieved.

The reconstructed mosque now boasts modern architectural excellence combined with a deep respect for traditional Islamic artistry. The opening ceremony is expected to be a major event, attracting religious leaders, traditional rulers, government officials, scholars, and members of the Ilorin community from across the globe. The event will feature special prayers, Qur'anic recitations, and goodwill messages, underscoring the importance of faith-inspired development and reinforcing the strong bond between the palace and the state government.
