Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has hosted a prestigious cocktail reception in Yola, gathering prominent political figures and traditional rulers ahead of the highly anticipated 2025 Marghi National Day celebrations.

Political Elite Gather for Cultural Celebration

The event, held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, brought together some of Nigeria's most influential political personalities. Among the distinguished guests were PDP National Chairman Bala Mohammed, respected political figure Turaki, former PDP National Chairman Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, the current PDP National Secretary, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha.

The reception also attracted numerous royal majesties and high-profile dignitaries from across the nation, creating a significant gathering of political and traditional leadership in the heart of Adamawa State.

Preserving Marghi Cultural Heritage

Marghi National Day represents a crucial celebration of unity, culture, and political solidarity within Adamawa State. The event serves to honor the substantial contributions of the Marghi people to the state's cultural richness and aims to preserve their unique identity and heritage for future generations.

The upcoming celebrations will feature the unveiling of new cultural attire, marking what community leaders describe as a landmark moment in their cultural preservation efforts.

Governor Fintiri Highlights Administration's Achievements

Speaking at the reception, Governor Fintiri emphasized his Marghi roots while outlining the progress made under his leadership. "I began this journey of service as a Margi man, and it was my people who gave me the wings to rise," the governor stated emotionally.

Fintiri detailed the transformation Adamawa has undergone, recalling that the state faced significant challenges including insecurity, dilapidated educational facilities, weak healthcare systems, and diminished public trust when he assumed office.

"With peace as our foundation, we rebuilt," he declared. "We strengthened security through justice, revived traditional institutions, restored infrastructure, empowered our youth and women, reformed the civil service, and invested in education and healthcare because progress must be felt in every home."

The governor proudly noted that Adamawa now stands among the most peaceful states in the North-East region, attributing this achievement to collaborative efforts, active listening, and community resilience.

Enhanced Security Measures

In a related development demonstrating the administration's commitment to security, Governor Fintiri has recently handed over newly acquired Nigerian-made operational patrol vehicles to security agencies in the state.

The vehicle donation ceremony, which took place at the Government House in Yola, was attended by Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, senior government officials, and heads of various security agencies.

Fintiri described the vehicle provision as a stimulus package to support ongoing security operations, emphasizing his administration's determination to ensure residents can "sleep with both eyes closed." He acknowledged the challenging nature of maintaining peace while stressing that it requires substantial government commitment and investment.

The 2025 Marghi National Day celebrations promise to be a significant event showcasing the cultural diversity and political unity of Adamawa State, with Governor Fintiri's reception setting the stage for the main festivities to follow.
