Massive Crowd at 40th Tijjaniya Maulud in Katsina

Katsina State witnessed an unprecedented gathering of faith over the weekend as an estimated three million followers of the Tijaniyya Islamic sect filled the city for the 40th National Maulud celebration. The event, held in honour of the revered Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass, drew participants from all 36 Nigerian states, the Federal Capital Territory, and several West and North African nations.

Stadium at Capacity as Hospitality Overflows

The Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, the primary venue, reached full capacity long before the 9:00 a.m. start time on Saturday. Every available space, including the pitch and stands, was occupied by worshippers. The massive influx led to a complete takeover of the dual carriageway from the WTC Roundabout to Barhin Roundabout.

Hotels within Katsina metropolis were fully booked, prompting many residents to open their homes to accommodate guests in a remarkable display of hospitality. Some participants who could not secure lodging reportedly slept within the stadium despite the cold weather.

Leaders Offer Prayers for Peace and Unity

The event, organised by the Majma’u Ahbab Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass, featured prominent religious and government figures. Sheikh Ibrahim Dahiru Bauchi expressed gratitude to the Katsina State Government for hosting and offered prayers for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the state and across Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, urged Muslims to remain steadfast in their faith, follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and engage in legitimate economic activities for self-reliance.

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State thanked the organisers for choosing the state as host. He noted that the prayers from such gatherings were contributing to the gradual return of peace in the state and urged continued spiritual support for the nation's development.

Economic Boom and a Call for Continuity

The Maulud provided a significant economic lift for local traders. Vendors dealing in food, drinks, clothing, books, and herbal medicines recorded brisk sales throughout the celebration, highlighting the event's socio-economic impact.

Sheikh Mahi Ibrahim Nyass, the eldest son of Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass, represented by his brother Sheikh Muhammad Ibrahim Nyass, prayed for the soul of the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. He called on Muslims worldwide to remain united and uphold the values of the Tijaniyya sect.

The gathering concluded with special prayers offered for Katsina State, Nigeria, and the nation's leaders, reinforcing the event's central themes of unity, peace, and spiritual devotion.
