Rites for Abducted Oyo Pupils Held in Abeokuta

Traditional religious adherents in Abeokuta, Ogun State, have conducted spiritual ceremonies at Olumo Rock and other sacred locations to seek divine intervention for the release of over 40 pupils and teachers abducted from three schools in Oyo State nearly three weeks ago.

Spiritual Ceremony Led by Olori MacGregor

The ceremony was led by Dr. Omolara Fashola-MacGregor, wife of the Olu of Orile-Ilawo, Oba Alexander Olusegun MacGregor. It included prayers, libations, and invocations of ancestral deities. The worshippers, dressed in traditional regalia, called for the safe return of the captives and divine judgment against those responsible for the mid-May attack, which also resulted in the death of an assistant headmaster.

Invocation of Ancestral Spirits

During the gathering, Olori MacGregor declared, "The cries of these innocent school children have reached the heavens. We are invoking the spirit of our ancestors and the potent deities of our land to go into the deepest forests. May those who have taken these children find no sleep, no peace, and no safety until every single child and teacher is returned unharmed."
