FUOYE Students Elect New SUG President Ajayi Olusegun

Students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), under the Students' Union Government (SUG), have elected new leaders, with Ajayi Olusegun emerging as president. The online election had its collation center at Ado Ekiti, serving as the Situation Room. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Tajudeen Opoola, and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Strategic Partnerships, Research, Innovation and Linkages, SPRIL) acted as observers.

Electoral Process

Chairman of the Students Electoral Body, Odelami Moses Ayotunde of History and International Studies, along with 37 others from all faculties, disclosed that 16,366 students were accredited to vote. Ayotunde described the exercise as credible, free, and fair, stating, "This is the most seamless and credible election that I have seen since I became a student of FUOYE."

New President's Profile

The new president, Olusegun, from Ikole campus, is a 400-Level student in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. He is popularly known as AOS The Unifier and also as Fairsam, a nickname reflecting his generosity, reliability, and commitment to helping others. Ayotunde remarked, "He is a passionate student leader, public speaker, entrepreneur, and advocate for student welfare. Throughout his academic journey, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, service, and academic excellence." He added, "Olusegun has held several leadership positions and has actively contributed to initiatives aimed at improving the academic, social, and welfare experiences of students." Bolu Fashakin, a 400-Level student of Political Science, noted, "The new president's dedication to service, unity, and student development has earned him the trust and confidence of the student body."

Other Elected Leaders

Other elected officials include Vice President Taiwo Victor Oluwadarasimi, General Secretary Olatunbosun Oluwaferanmi Faith, Assistant General Secretary Rabiu Azeez Olawale, and Social Director Okoro Chukwuemeka. Also elected are Sports Director Isaac Ebenezer Ekoyon, Director of Transport Akere Daniel Oluwamuyiwa, Financial Secretary Oyelakin Ayodeji Solomon, Treasurer Shobayo Olatunbosun Olasunkanmi, Public Relations Officer Oni Olaoluwa Elijah, and Welfare Director Salami Nimotalai Moyinoluwa.
