LASU Council Reappoints Registrar, Appoints New Bursar

The Governing Council of Lagos State University (LASU) has approved key leadership changes, reappointing Mr Emmanuel A. Fanu as Registrar and Secretary to Council, and appointing Mr Olabisi Yusuf as the new Bursar. The announcement was made on Friday, June 12, via the university's official X handle, @LASUOfficial.

Details of the Appointments

According to the statement, the Council at an emergency meeting on Wednesday, June 10, approved both appointments after a competitive process. The new tenures will begin on Thursday, July 2, 2026, and last for four years.

Registrar Fanu's Renewal

Fanu joined LASU in 1999 as an Administrative Officer II and rose through the ranks. He served as Acting Registrar from June 2021 to February 2022 before his substantive appointment in June 2022. He holds a B.Sc. in Education (1996), an MPA (2005), and a Diploma in Law, all from LASU. He has attended international conferences on tertiary education administration with grants from the British Council, USIS, and Lagos State Government.

New Bursar Appointed

Mr Olabisi Yusuf replaces Mr Said Babatunde Olayinka, whose tenure ends on July 1, 2026. Yusuf brings over 20 years of financial management experience at LASU. He joined in 2006 as a Principal Accountant at LASUCOM and held positions including Chief Accountant, Deputy Bursar, and Head of Operations. He is a Fellow of ICAN and an Associate Member of CITN, with expertise in budgeting, treasury, and donor-funded projects.

The appointments followed a competitive interview on June 10. Vice-Chancellor Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello congratulated the appointees and wished them success.

Earlier, LASU confirmed the death of undergraduate Otabor Boluwatife Joseph, who died after an armed robbery attack in Iba area. The History and International Studies student succumbed to injuries after four days in hospital.
