UI Law Graduate Joins Mavin Records Internship Program

Deborah Oyedijo, a first-class law graduate from the University of Ibadan, has joined Mavin Records as an IP and content licensing intern under the Mavin Future Five cohort 3. She announced the role on LinkedIn on July 6, expressing excitement and disbelief over the opportunity.

Deborah's Journey to Mavin Records

Deborah revealed that she initially applied for the position in August 2025 but felt unprepared at the time. To ready herself, she took intentional steps, including writing her final year thesis on music streaming and royalty protection. She also enrolled in the CTF Bootcamp, earned a scholarship into CBA for Africa, and took internships focused on music licensing, publishing administration, and rights management. When the opportunity reopened earlier this year, she applied again and was selected after several stages.

Role at Mavin Records

Deborah shared photos from the Mavin Records office in Lagos, stating, "I am looking forward to what I will learn, what I will work on, and the incredible people I get to work with, at the leading music institution in Africa. This is just the beginning." Mavin Records, founded by Don Jazzy on May 8, 2012, after the dissolution of Mo' Hits Records, is a global entertainment powerhouse. Universal Music Group acquired a majority stake in the label in 2024.
