Frankline, a 2026 graduate of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), has made history by becoming the first male student and the first indigenous Imo State student to earn a First-Class degree from the Faculty of Law since its founding in 1962. The announcement, shared on X, revealed that Frankline also clinched the title of Best Graduating Male Student in the Class of 2026.
A Historic First for ABU's Faculty of Law
From the faculty's establishment in 1962 until Frankline's admission in 2020, only one student had ever achieved a First-Class degree in the department. Frankline's result marks a groundbreaking milestone, making him the first male Igbo graduate to earn a First-Class from the faculty in its entire history.
During his seven years at the Zaria-based university, Frankline recorded a perfect 5.00 GPA in three separate semesters. His academic excellence earned him a scholarship from the Nigerian Higher Education Foundation (NHEF). His competitive record also includes being part of the team that finished fourth in Africa at the 2022 FDI Moot competition, followed by winning both the Champion and Best Advocate titles at the Shehu Wada Insolvency Moot.
From Campus to Published Author and Legal Practitioner
Frankline's deep interest in international finance, capital markets, and cross-border trade translated into prolific academic output, authoring more than 18 papers. He also gained legal practice experience at multiple top Nigerian firms.
Reflecting on his journey, Frankline wrote: "Looking back, I don't just see awards. I see the people. Mentors who demanded rigor, friends who became brothers, and failures that taught me resilience." He concluded with a note of optimism: "For the first time in 7 years, there's no exam timetable. Just a blank page, immense gratitude, and work to do. Unto the next."
