The NR Fuel App is the digital backbone of the new system. It is available for download on major mobile app stores, including the Google Play Store for Android and the App Store for iPhones. Customers use the app to select the amount of fuel they wish to purchase, make payment, and receive a code that authorizes the self-service pump.
The user dashboard allows customers to check their wallet balance, monitor daily transaction limits, and select products like Petrol (PMS) or Diesel before arriving at a station. The app also features a 'nearby station' function that lists participating outlets, each marked with a distinct green 'SELF-SERVE' badge to confirm support for the feature.
Step-by-Step Guide to Using Self-Service Fuel Stations
To begin, download the NR Fuel App from the Google Play Store or App Store. Once installed, navigate to a participating NNPC station—not all outlets support self-service yet. Use the app's dashboard to select a product and search for 'nearby station' to find a designated outlet.
At the station, input your desired purchase amount or volume in the app to lock in your fuel before heading to the pump. Review your final purchase summary, which includes a standard N100 transaction fee, and complete payment through available options such as bank transfers, USSD, QR payments, or cards.
After payment, the system generates a code linked to your fuelling session. Keep this code accessible on your phone, then go to the designated self-service pump and enter the code. Once authorized, you can dispense the fuel yourself, eliminating the need for an attendant.
Important Considerations for Users
Drivers unfamiliar with self-service petrol stations may need time to adjust. The service is currently limited to selected outlets, so it is crucial to verify via the app that a station supports self-service before starting a purchase. The Abuja pilot station is one such designated location.
