The incident occurred on Friday, May 9, 2026, as she was en route to Damaturu and then to the Muhammadu Buhari Airport in Maiduguri for her flight to Saudi Arabia.
Details of the Incident
Sadiya, who earned her degree in Medical Microbiology in April 2026, was looking forward to performing Hajj this week. Family sources revealed that she also had wedding plans set for January 2027. The young graduate hailed from Yobe State and has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
University Confirms the Tragedy
The management of MAAUN confirmed the incident in a statement released on Friday, expressing deep shock over the sudden death of their former student. The statement described Sadiya as a humble and highly disciplined student who graduated this year.
In a condolence message, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, mourned her passing, saying, "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. We have just received the heartbreaking news that Sadiya Ismail Uba, one of our Medical Laboratory Science students who graduated this year, has passed away following a motor accident earlier today (Friday)."
